Great lizards are unique to the Southern Continent, particularly in the very hot areas around Sa’Nar. They cannot survive on the Northern Continent due to the cold winters. Great lizards are true reptiles, and are therefore sluggish in the mornings or on cold days.
Great lizards look like very large komodo dragons; they stand four to five feet at the shoulder, and range in color from a dull green to a dark, sandy, yellow. Great lizards are predators and scavengers in the wild, which makes them difficult mounts. Riding a great lizard is seen as a status symbol in the Southern Continent.
